We produce three types of dichroic ChameleonLab films

Our three basic films, with the names Magma, Sunset and Nightsky, are capable to separate the visible light into prismatic colors.

Magma

The Dichroic Transition

All films from ChameleonLab are designed to create a dynamic color-shifting experience based on the viewer's angle. The visual experience is a seamless, fluid transition:

Photographed from a front-facing angle, the Magma dichroic film reveals deep magenta and purple swirls with yellow accents. When walking or driving past a building with this film installed in its glass, these colors would appear momentarily.

Sunset

Photographed from a front-facing angle, the Sunset dichroic film showcases deep purple and royal blue tones with magenta waves and subtle green iridescent streaks. When installed in architectural glass, pedestrians and drivers would first encounter these rich, twilight-like colors.

Night Sky

Photographed from a front-facing angle, the Night Sky dichroic film displays deep royal blue hues with pink waves and yellow highlights in the upper portion.

Each film features slightly different color tones that reflect, absorb, and transmit light.

Angle

The colors appear differently under natural sunlight and artificial light, depending on the angle from which the films are viewed.

Nano particles

No metals or pigments are used; instead, colors are created by transmitting light through hundreds of layers of nanoparticles.

Combinations

Additionally, we can apply custom layers on top of each of the three films, such as a black blockout, white diffuser, or colored filters like clear blue, red, or green.

Vibrant, Versatile Film for Design and Engineering

Colors shift and shimmer with changes in viewing angle, light source and environment. Chameleon film can be used for a multitude of decorative and technical applications by designers architectural display and product engineers. It is engineered to obtain unprecedented levels of reflective vibrancy. Chameleon can be combined with suitable color substrates to produce various vibrant colors in both reflection and transmission.

Nature-Inspired Light Effects with Customizable Multilayer Film

Chameleon reveals the magic of the natural world. It creates marvelous light effects not through heavy metals, but by mixing up the placement of many ultra – thin layers of polyester. The concept is similar to how a rainbow works.

The color shifts and intensity of Chameleon can also be manipulated in a number of ways, creating a wide range of options for its use. A variety of color refractions can be achieved by changing the glass used, the laminates and the type of glue. There’s a customized solution for every design. The two sides of the film can be processed so that the magic of Chameleon is visible from the outside,while allowing natural daylight to penetrate on the inside.

Patented Inserts for Laminated Glass and Composite Facades

Chameleonlab film is used as an insert between safety laminated glass. (See our European Granted patent.) The use of Chameleon in composites is a whole other market sector. The first use of this kind was for a new façade coping on the oldest concrete building in the Netherlands.

The difference between satin & blasted

We can understand that looking to the nature of a Building design an architect likes a more softer moderate color image.

We designed for that reason a dichroic film with a satin film which enables the architect to show the same product in “disguise”. In this case there is no need for special etched- or blasted glass. Even by using clear glass the satin look is created by the film.

Nano layers

The innovation to create this effect is called nano- or micro layer technology and the method is as unique as simple. The film exists out of 250 nano layers of clear polyester.

Separation of all prismatic colors happens by reflection of the visible light and movement of the sun or people passing.

Prismatic Light

Creates a specific prismatic color on a certain time each day inside a building.

The intensity of the reflected colors depends on the amount of light. The three basic films Magma, Sunset and Nightsky show their colors without any compromise.

That means a bright shining pallet of these films are interesting for architects who want to design unique object .
